Mousses Lefkas, Greece
Two years ago at a BBQ in our village with a few good friends and you know how it goes after a few bottles of rose. Someone said “hey we should all go on holiday somewhere and do this for a week, it would be amazing!”
Usually this would be forgotten with the clear up but being a travel agent and loving my friends I didn’t want to let the idea go this time. When done right it genuinely is the best fun. All 5 families agreed this week together at Mousses was the easiest parenting with the happiest we had seen our kids, the best socialising and we all had space to unwind too.
We stayed at Mousses which is a small property with 10 two bed villas and 2 three bed houses with private pools. There is also a large shared pool, taverna and bar and this is the brilliance of it. You are absolutely holidaying together but every family has their own space, kitchen and lounge etc. They are in the same safe resort so each morning the kids could head out in their PJs to neighbouring kids and start the day with them. We had lazy breakfasts and peace; unheard of.
Zois is the brilliant owner and he is supported by Panda. To call him a barman is unfair as he is much more than that. He told us each morning what the evening meal plan was, fish night, bbq etc and took orders to ensure we had a relaxing time. Once the kids were finished he took them off to get ice creams so we could chat more. Everyone has a tab so no annoying bills. Each meal was split evenly for us too.
We all ate together with an adult table and kids one and after dinner the kids got down and played. No bored children on screens just shrieks of laughter as they played in the gardens. We made it into town one evening all arranged by Panda who had booked the table and taxis. We also visited a superb beach club one day. Wendy who looks after the kids club and Mousses for Simpson found us an epic coach at short notice to get us there and back so we could all enjoy a glass of rose or two at lunch.
The key to how brilliant this felt was organisation and none of it by us. We wandered down to the pool at some point in the morning as the kids were already in being supervised by another parent. Panda would discuss our plans and behind the scenes everything would happen. This would also occur in a super luxury villa rental with full staff and chef etc but you’d be all in one house together and paying about £200,000 more.
Pool games including zorbing one afternoon arranged by the creche team and lots of fun activites and races kept everyone happy. It was absolutely brilliant.
We are planning to return and bring more families in 2025. If you have a great group of friends who would enjoy this sense of freedom as a family but all the social life for you and the kids, this place is unbeatable. I will arrange the whole thing including beach club etc and you can just turn up and have the best time. I hope the photos show you how much we all loved our stay.
