Hotel Royal Evian
You know that feeling when you’re at a hotel and everything just works? The rooms are effortlessly comfortable, everything is in exactly the right place, and you start noticing the little details—the comfort of the bed, the effectiveness of the blackout blinds, the spectacular bathroom, the views, and the generous welcome amenities. That is the feeling you get at the Hotel Royal in Évian. I genuinely felt like skipping through the corridors—I was that relaxed and happy.
I’ll be totally honest: before I arrived, I didn’t quite get it. It looked like a grand old hotel by a lake, and I wondered if it might be a little old-school or stuffy. I could not have been more wrong. Yes, it’s a heavyweight when it comes to service, style, and historic importance—but the atmosphere is light, joyful, and fun.
It genuinely has everything a guest could want. I’ll keep this short and listed because otherwise, I could go on for hours. It has:
- A kids’ club of dreams (including a crèche, indoor pool, and splash pool)
- A golf course and technical centre
- The lake for water-sports
- The mountains for paragliding, biking, and hiking
- A world-class spa—and yes, it’s an Evian spa
- Indoor and outdoor pools
- Beautiful parkland and grounds
- Two four-star sister hotels in walking distance, each with more dining options
- Évian town for the source of the water, charming shops, and restaurants
- A funicular connecting the hotel to the town
- A concert venue just a 2-minute walk away
- An epic gym
- A full activities and cultural team to organise amazing days out
- Dining options galore—including a Michelin-starred restaurant and a fantastic local restaurant with a €35 set menu
The variety is honestly endless, and everything is brilliantly organised. While we were there, we were lucky enough to attend a classical concert in the woods—a magical experience, especially after a relaxed early dinner and a gentle stroll through the trees to get there.
My photos capture the beauty of the place, but what they don’t show is the effort and care behind it all. One morning, on my way to breakfast, I saw a member of staff adjusting the curtains in the reception area—carefully, until they were just right. Then she paused to wish me a warm good morning, with a genuine smile. The whole team is like that: gentle, professional, and truly caring.
The Royal is a sophisticated sanctuary from the chaos of modern life. Your shoulders drop the moment you arrive—and they stay that way until it’s time to leave. I absolutely loved my stay and wholeheartedly recommend it. Please do ask me about it—it’s a special place, and I know it will wow my clients.
