Ama Waterways River Cruise

I was invited to try my first river cruise by the lovely team at Aspire. I hesitated before accepting as I really wasn’t sure about it, but decided I would never know unless I tried. Wow am I glad I did.

I am a total convert to river cruising. You relax onboard a beautiful ship with lovely crew and watch the world go by, then wake up in a different city or town to explore with the best guides and it is all arranged for you. We did hikes, bike rides, wine tasting, historic walking tours and returned to our beautiful cabins with all our things exactly where we wanted them each evening. No checking in and out and finding you way around a new hotel, just back to base and a beautiful one at that.

The perception of river cruising is perhaps that is suits a certain age and don’t get me wrong we didn’t party the night away to techno DJs onboard but it was social and most importantly fun. In a world where people are often time poor what better way to explore and make the most of your holiday. After a day of touring and being in the fresh air, dinner and an early night was a treat too.

The cabins are extremely comfortable, well designed and had a sense of space I liked. There are some elements that made me grin like the on board announcements that tours were ready to start etc but that is part of organising everyone to maximise the time.

It also surprised me that they have a ship on the Mekong. The value of this trip for my clients compared to land touring is incredible. I have booked this twice now for clients looking to explore with a group.

I could talk about this all day and how much I enjoyed it but here is actual proof. I have a lovely couple I have been looking after for years who booked a river cruise with me travelling on Ama Waterways and they travelled this September on the Danube. Within one week of being home they were re-booked. This time onto the Mekong cruise with all the pre and post land arrangements and flights all arranged by the brilliant team at Ama Waterways. High praise indeed.

I’d recommend a river cruise wholeheartedly and am happy to discuss it with anyone interested. Lets just say I am on board!
