As a huge fan of the Caribbean I am always thrilled when a stunning property gets the right investment. Pink Sands Club has had many names and owners but never quite founds it’s groove on the beautiful island of Canouan.
As we landed at the tiny airport we were welcomed like royalty with two blacked out Mercedes vans and swiftly driven to what was the most spectacular welcome view. There is something about the Caribbean I have always found so relaxing. The heat, the sound of the tree frogs gently singing and the welcome glass of punch all shake off any journey fatigue.
The rooms are ridiculous, opulent and extremely comfortable with views out over the beautiful bay. There is an I pad for your every request. It is most definitely all bells and whistles here.
We were spoilt and treated to a lazy lunch on the beach, a catamaran trip to swim with turtles at the Tobago Quays and lovely sunset drinks on the best hole on the golf course where you can see for miles.
The beach is hard to do justice in the photos. It is powder soft pink sand. The spa is great and golf is very well run.
What is not to like? Well only one thing when I visited. The service in all restaurants was too slow and all food and beverage needed a bit of a revamp. I thought at the time they need a hard hitting management company to come in and bring this up to the top standards I know are possible here. It was as though they heard me, Mandarin Oriental took over Pinks Sands and has done wonders. Watch this space but I’m thrilled as it is a truly spectacular hotel which, under the right management, will be the perfect beach hideaway.
